Community Guidelines
In an emergency, call 999, or your local emergency number outside the UK. ZAHN is not an emergency service. Nobody at ZAHN or in the emergency services watches reports, check-ins or locations. A report on ZAHN is not a report to the police.
ZAHN is a community that helps people travel more safely. These guidelines explain what is and is not allowed. They are part of our Terms of Service. If you break them, we may remove content or restrict your account.
Be honest
- Only report things you saw, experienced or reasonably believe happened.
- Choose the category that fits best and put the pin where it happened.
- Use "still there" and "looks clear" only if you know. Do not vote on incidents you have not seen.
- Never make false, joke or exaggerated reports. Never report to harm a business, a neighbour or anyone else.
Talk about places, not people Key
- Never name, describe or identify a person in a report, even if you think they did something wrong. This includes descriptions of appearance, clothes, vehicles and number plates.
- Never include anyone's address, phone number or other personal details. Photos must not show people's faces, car number plates or the inside of anyone's home.
- Do not pin reports on a private home unless it is needed for safety, and never on your own home or school.
- Leave investigating and blaming to the police.
- Missing person and pet reports are the only exception. Only the person's family, guardian or carer, or someone with the family's permission, may post a missing person report. It may include a description and a photo. Call 999 (or your local emergency number) first, especially if a child or someone at risk is missing, and delete the report once they are found.
Keep it safe and respectful
We do not allow:
- harassment, bullying, threats or intimidation;
- hate based on race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age or any other protected characteristic;
- calls for violence, revenge or "vigilante" action;
- graphic descriptions of violence or injury;
- sexual content of any kind;
- content that encourages self-harm, suicide or eating disorders;
- spam, advertising or self-promotion.
Illegal content
We will remove illegal content and may report it to the police or other authorities. This includes threats to kill, stalking, harassment, hate crime, terrorism content, child sexual abuse material, intimate images shared without consent, fraud, and selling illegal items such as drugs or weapons.
Protect children Key
- Only add people you know in real life to your Bubbles.
- Adults must never use ZAHN to contact, track or befriend a child they do not know in real life.
- We take reports about risks to children first. We report child sexual abuse material and grooming to the relevant authorities.
Respect people's privacy and freedom
- Never share someone's location without their agreement.
- Never use ZAHN to secretly track or control a partner, ex-partner, family member or anyone else. This is abuse, and it can be a crime.
- Respect people who leave your Bubble or use Ghost mode.
Usernames and profile photos
Your username and profile photo must not be offensive or misleading, must not impersonate anyone, and, if you are under 18, must not include your full name, school or address.
How to tell us about something
- Email support@zahnapp.com with the report or profile you are worried about and the reason. Include a screenshot if you can.
- You do not need an account to tell us about illegal content.
- If you are being harassed or feel unsafe, leave or remove people from your Bubbles straight away, and tell someone you trust.
What we do
- We aim to review what you tell us within 24 hours. Anything about risk to children or immediate danger comes first.
- Depending on how serious it is, we may remove the content, add a warning, limit features, suspend the account for a time, or close the account. Serious cases may be reported to the police.
- Reports also disappear from the map automatically after up to 7 days, depending on the type of report.
- We will tell you if we act against your content or account, and why, unless the law or safety stops us.
- There is a limit on how many reports each person can post in 24 hours. This helps stop spam and misuse.
Appeals
If you think we made a mistake, you can appeal within 14 days by replying to our message or emailing legal@zahnapp.com. Someone who was not involved in the first decision will review it. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
