Troubleshooting

Sometimes things don’t go quite to plan, and that’s okay! This section is here to help you quickly fix the little hiccups that can happen while using ZAHN.

If Your Location Isn’t Updating

A few quick checks usually solve this:

  • Make sure your location permissions are set to Always

  • Check that Precise Location (iPhone) or High Accuracy (Android) is on

  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection

  • Open ZAHN briefly to refresh your map

If you still don’t see updates, try restarting your phone. It resets your GPS in the background.

If Someone in Your Bubble Looks “Stuck”

Sometimes a Bubble member’s location may freeze or appear outdated. This often means:

  • Their phone is on Low Power Mode

  • Their location permission is set to While Using the App

  • They’re in an area with poor signal

  • Their device hasn’t moved enough to trigger an update

You can gently prompt them with a Check-In if you’re worried.

If Notifications Aren’t Coming Through

Notifications are a big part of staying connected. Try:

  • Make sure notifications are enabled for ZAHN in your phone settings

  • Check you haven’t muted the Bubble or Spot

  • Disable Low Power Mode if active

  • Ensure Background App Refresh is turned on (iPhone)

If the App Feels Slow or Unresponsive

A few things help instantly:

  • Close and reopen the app

  • Clear some device storage

  • Make sure you’re running the latest version of ZAHN.

  • Restart your phone

If it continues, send us a message, slow performance usually means we need to investigate on our side.

If You Can’t Create a Bubble or Spot

This usually means one of the following:

  • Your internet connection dropped

  • The person you’re inviting changed their number

  • You haven’t given ZAHN permission to access your contacts

  • You’re using a VPN (this can cause unexpected behaviour)

Try again with a stable connection, or reach out if the issue persists.

If Ghost Mode Isn’t Turning Off

Very rarely, your phone may hold onto old permissions. Fixes include:

  • Opening the app and tapping the Ghost icon again

  • Restarting your phone

  • Ensuring Background App Refresh / Activity Controls are on

If you stay ghosted longer than intended, rest assured:
Your location won’t be shared until you choose to turn Ghost Mode off.
